The result of developing their new 100,000+ product catalog was the unification of once divergent staff, teams and business units. By aligning the organization and driving cohesion, we were able to not only release a cutting edge industry site, but also provide them the channels of communication to continue to grow.
With the acquisition of a set of companies that made Black Box one of the largest voice and data network service companies in the country, the company realized it needed to take a look at how all the services combined to form a single, unified entity.
Thinktiv worked with the Black Box communications team to understand the scale and scope of the new company. through a series of interviews and work sessions, the team identified the unique needs and idiosyncrasies of each group, defined the core message platform for each business type and produced a generally accepted organizational information model that could served as the basis for the redevelopment of their marketing initiatives.
Following the acquisition of ACS Communications and a few other regional voice and data services, Black Box needed to re-imagine its brand to deliver a comprehensive product and service offering with a more contemporary and consistent brand on the web. Thinkitv designed and delivered a clean, corporate brand for Black Box to engage a wide range of audience types and deliver a stable consistent image of quality and confidence for the company.
With the selection of Endeca as a platform for delivering the new catalog, we worked with BlackBox and Endeca to convert the 100,000+ product catalog from an organically grown catalog to a structured hierarchical catalog, where products were mapped to logical and audience-familiar groupings.
With this hierarchy, we designed and developed a user experience for the catalog that combined an intuitive navigation with the Endeca search functionality and a set of easy to read page types for delivering content to the user.
