Vice President of Development
Job Summary
If you are a technology advocate and experienced development / development management star and looking for the opportunity to join a venture firm as a leader to dozens of emerging technology businesses, you’ve found the right place! Thinktiv is looking for a VP of development to lead our technology practice delivering product and marketing solutions to our portfolio of customers. Our portfolio companies range from big data businesses and enterprise solutions to consumer peer-to-peer plays and social/mobile platforms.
Key customers are early stage businesses working under compressed timelines and in heavy cycles of innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Must have ability to think strategically about delivering the solution that powers a venture-backed business, and drive key technology requirements of mobile and web applications.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, cross-functional, agile environment.
- Works with the customer as well as any and all members of the assigned project team in estimating costs and timing for tasks such as project strategy, functional design, technology requirements, etc., utilizing established estimating processes and tools.
- Leads the project team to drive the technology approach and deliverables.
- Must have experience managing development teams 10+ in size and the desire to own a 30+ development organization.
- Must have experience managing off-shore + on-shore collaborative teams.
- Must have significant experience with Python (experience with Django strongly preferred).
- Must have significant experience with database design and SQL and some experience with query optimization. Experience with one or more of the following database platforms preferred: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB.
- Experience with mobile product development for the iPhone and / or Android platform is strongly preferred.
- Significant experience utilizing software development processes and tools (eg, source control, issue tracking, test-driven development, etc).
- Experience with both consumer and enterprise product solutions is preferred.
- Experience with other technology stacks: Ruby on Rails, PHP/Symfony2, etc is preferred.
Required Knowledge & Experience:
At least 10 years of experience leading successful internet and mobile-based products. Entrepreneurial experience and / or experience working inside a venture backed business is strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related fields required.

Developer Intern
Job Summary
Thinktiv is looking for a promising student interested in both web/mobile development and web/mobile based businesses, who’s searching for that perfect balance between an established company and the world of fastpaced innovative startups (think “metastartup”).
Whether it’s a fullblown product and marketing development, or an ageold client facelift, our development team works with our clients and portfolio companies as critical technology partners. Our projects range from big data businesses and enterprise solutions to consumer peertopeer plays and social/mobile platforms all utilizing the most important and exciting disruptive technology innovations.
As an intern developer at Thinktiv, you’ll contribute to our vast portfolio of companies and clients in emerging markets and have an unforgettable summer learning and experiencing a wide array of web stacks and technologies, right in downtown Austin. You’ll be responsible for contributing quality production code to our numerous code bases, aligning and working with our onshore and offshore development teams, and learning practical applications they don’t teach you in school!
Key Responsibilities:
- Must at least be in the second year of working towards a CS or MIS degree (or equivalent).
- Must have experience with Python, and the Django web framework.
- Must have experience with Javascript, HTML, and CSS.
- Must have experience utilizing software development processes and tools (eg, source control, issue tracking, testdriven development, etc).
- Must have an interest in venture-backed businesses and entrepreneurial finance.
- Must possess initiative, ambition, creativity, and strong communication skills.
- Must thrive in a fastpaced, collaborative, crossfunctional, agile environment.
- Experience with database design and SQL is required. Experience with one or more of the following database platforms preferred: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB.
